What is Overtake X?

Overtake X is a free browser-based traffic racing game where the only opponent is the endless stream of vehicles ahead. There are no laps or finish lines—just a highway that keeps producing cars, a speed that keeps rising, and a distance counter that stops the moment you crash. The core mechanic is the near miss: the closer you squeeze past a car without touching it, the bigger your score multiplier and the more nitro you gain. This creates a risk-reward loop where cautious driving earns almost nothing, while aggressive, precise overtakes feed your boost and push your score higher.
Coins earned during runs unlock and upgrade over 40 vehicles, each with distinct speed, handling, and braking stats. The game includes multiple modes such as Endless, Two-Way, Time Trial, Police Chase, and Free Ride, along with varied environments ranging from cities and deserts to snowy roads and rainy nights.

How to Play

On desktop: use the Left/Right arrow keys or A/D to steer between lanes. Press the Up arrow or W to accelerate, the Down arrow or S to brake, and the Spacebar to activate nitro boost.
On mobile: steer with taps or tilt controls depending on the version.
Your car accelerates automatically in many modes, so the focus stays on lane positioning and timing. Hold your line until the last moment, then cut across to earn close-pass bonuses. Chain consecutive near misses to build your multiplier, but remember that a single crash ends the run outright—no lives or checkpoints.
